WIN THE LOTTERY - OR LOOSE!

The weekly market for water, conducted by Water Move, would seem to be a bit of a lottery. The market is operated in the Victorian water zones of 1A Goulburn (1AG), Dartmouth to Barmah (D-B) and Barmah to South Australia (B-SA). Currently water allocation in these zones is fungible - ie. transferable between zones without any extra cost to transfer to another zone.

An analysis of the pricing differential (so far this water year) in the same week is quite variable with the average variability between highest and lowest being $41.48 which is 10.4%! In fact the highest range has been $145 - quite significant at 28.7% between low and high.

The above table provides all the markets this year with 'nt', indicating no trades for the zone.
