After a quiet winter for the water market we think it is about time to start looking at the 2009 - 2010 Water Year. Little action has been occuring over the past few weeks since we last wrote. However we have been busy!
After considerable work, Greeneye, in conjunction with BRIT (Bendigo Regional Institute of TAFE) has gained Farm Ready approval for the Introductory course in Water Trading - More Profit, Less Risk, with your Water Allocation. This means it is potentially funded by Canberra for farmers - conditions apply!
After the first 2 sessions, in Shepparton and Echuca, we have found that farmers and industry participants are obtaining valuable inforamtion and tools in relation to managing their allocation. Infact, seminar exit surveys show all attendees have either strongly agreed or agreed that:
1. The seminar covered subjects important to me
2. This seminar has triggered new ideas on how I can farm profitably
3. I now have a clearer strategy on how to manage my water buying/selling
4. I see new paths for more profit, less risk
Quotes from the first attendees included:
'good to see some profesionalism in water trading strategies'
'MDB background water information was good'
More about the seminars later! (If you require information check www.farmready.gov.au for course code: FRTC0385
